Star Wars Episode VII – Andy Serkis Role Revealed

(Andy Serkis)
(Andy Serkis)

Andy Serkis had long been tied to a role in the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII film but the role had been unknown until know. Andy Serkis, who is mostly known for playing fully digital roles (Cesar in Rise/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Gollum in Lord of the Rings) is confirmed for the role of Supreme Leader Snoke. The official Star Wars website released the image above as well as the identity of the character that will be brought to life by the actor.

Who is this Supreme Leader Snoke? Well….no one’s entirely sure but it looks like it’ll be a fully digital character. Also, the fact that ‘Supreme’ is attached to his name combined with Andy Serkis’ brooding pose leads us to believe he might just be the antagonist.

If you’ve seen the first Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer you’ll recognize him from the epic intro. It is Andy, in the role of Supreme Leader Snoke, who does the voice over: “There has been an awakening…..have you felt it?….. the dark side…and the light….”

What do you think? Does Serkis have the acting chops to deliver a threatening enough performance?
