Guns N’ Roses Frontman Is The Latest Named To Front AC/DC

Remember the news on Brian Johnson being told to stop touring?

Well the band postponed their US dates and confirmed the rearranged dates will “likely feature a guest vocalist.”

AC/DC’s original singer Dave Evans, The Hives frontman Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist and Krokus’ Marc Storace have all thrown their hats into the ring, however, none of these would quite divide opinion like Axl Rose.

Notoriously allergic to turning up to shows on time, Rose is apparently being lined up for AC/DC’s ten US dates – if Atlanta Radio 100.5 DJ Jason Bailey is to be believed.

Quoting “a very very good source”, Bailey said:

“This is what I’m being told, Axl was meeting with the AC/DC group, because it’s all but a done deal that Axl will front AC/DC for the ten remaining shows. All ten, including Atlanta.”

“From what I was told, this was all kind of new inside information to me, Angus (Young) is a very black and white guy. He’s like, Brian, for health reasons, can’t continue fronting the band.”

“He was supposed to retire after the last tour, so they wanted to continue going out on the road and continue making music, so if you can’t do it, we appreciate your services, but the show must go on.”

“They’re in town, they were auditioning people for the job, and then they flew Axl in, again, this is from my source.”

If this is true then what does this mean for the forthcoming G’nR reformation? Will Axl be able to commit to both? And what about the UK tour schedule?

More to the point, do you think Axl could pull it off? Admittedly he could do the early Bon Scott stuff fairly well with that voice of his but the newer stuff?

Who would you like to see step up to the mark? Do you think AC/DC can continue?

I’m sure we will find out soon enough one way or the other.

Wow. I’m a huge fan of the older stuff, e.g. Hells Bells, Shook Me All Night, Have a Drink on Me, etc. And my all time favorite driving song: “Shoot to Thrill.” I can’t imagine Axl pulling it off, but I guess it depends on what “pulling it off” means. I’m a guy who basically walked away from Pink Floyd when Gilmore took over from Waters, so may I’m not the one to ask about this. Although, in fairness, Waters was the primary creative influence in that band for years, not just the front man. Anywho, I wish them well. They have a unique sound and are lots of fun.

So does that mean it will be a ‘Whole Lot of (Axl) Rose’?

I’d like to see Krokus’s Marc Storace as the replacement. He has a certain rawness to his voice that lends itself to the band’s earlier sound with Bon Scott.
