Blizzard Teams with Scholastic on YA Warcraft Series

Blizzard Entertainment, the game developers responsible for World of Warcraft, announced today that they are teaming with Schloastic to create a younng adult book series set in Warcraft’s world, Azeroth.

People were first introduced to Warcraft and Azeroth in 1994 via a tabletop rpg card game, but it was ten years later that the world became as visually rich and expansive as the imagination allowed when Blizzard developed and release the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), World of Warcraft. This new platform for creativity and character development offered players an escape into a world that promised adventure, fame, and fortune. The world escaped, en masse. WoW boasted an impressive 12 million subscribers during its height of popularity Inn 2010, and while that number has cooled to a steady 5 million, the loyalty remains.

Blizzard hopes that this new YA series will bring the younger generation into Azeroth and allow them the same rich experience  with adventure and exploration that the game has afforded its players for over a decade. The series, World of Warcraft: Traveler, will follow a young boy as he explores Azeroth and discovers secrets hidden within. IMG_20160329_133010_edit
