As we previously reported here, an Assassin’s Creed film starring Michael Fassbender (young magneto in Xmen DoFP) is in the works. Little by little the cast is taking shape. It has been recently announced that the film has its leading lady in the form of the French Oscar winning Marion Cotillard.

Marion won an Oscar for her role as Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose, but is probably more recognized as Miranda Tate/ Thalia Al’Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises. Although unconfirmed as of yet, she is expected to reprise her role for several films. This will be a reunion for Marion and Fassbender who worked side by side in Macbeth, film directed by Justin Kurzel (who is also at the helm of this project).

The film will tell the story of a secret order of Assasins who have helped shaped, for the better, the course of human history.

The film is slated to be released December 21st of this year
