Ant-Man had a different ending

If you haven’t seen Marvel’s Ant-Man and are going to and want to see the movie, don’t read any further… TURN BACK NOW!!! There are spoilers below:

The version of Ant-Man that is currently in theaters ends with a gag featuring a “tip”montage where Michael Pena’s Luis informs Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang that the Avengers are looking for him. What you probably don’t know, however, is that while the movie now ends on a funny note, originally it was going to feature a bit more ass-kicking.

Director Peyton Reed himself, who revealed, during the interview in Los Angeles a few weeks ago, the subject of Captain America: Civil War. The director reveals originally going to be a showdown with Martin Donovan’s Character, Mitchell Carson:

“At the end of the movie he gets away and has these Cross particles, and there was a sequence where Ant-Man has an encounter with him. But then for a couple reasons, it felt like maybe we should leave those particles out there. In that original thing, he took Martin Donovan out and got the particles.”

Kevin Feige also went on to say that The Wasp was originally planned for Captain America: Civil War, but it was over crowded:

“She was included in early versions of Civil War but there are so many characters in Civil War that we didn’t want to do her a disservice, like she flies in, ‘I’ve got the costume now’, and she flies out. With Ant-Man, and I’m not saying that’s what Ant-Man does in the movie, but we already know him, we’ve already seen him. We haven’t seen her as Wasp and we don’t want to rob the opportunity of seeing her in the outfit for at least almost the first time, and seeing her dynamic with Scott in a way it could play out, so we’re saving it. But it’s going to be in Phase three for sure.”

It’s not in the current slate of movies for Phase Three for Marvel, but I bet there will be a sequel/prequel for Ant-Man that delves into Pym Particle and the Cross Particle as well. I’m sure Mitchell Carson will show up as well. Maybe Ant-Man and/or the villains will pop up on an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode.
