According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is going to take us back to 1992 and follow up one of their classics: Aladdin. Well, it’s no so much a follow up, it’s a prequel!
The studio is developing Genies, a live-action comedy adventure that is being written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Tripp Vinson is on board to produce through his company Vinson Films.
The prequel will focus on how Aladdin’s Genie ended up in the enslaved lamp. Although Genie is only in the early stages of development, the long-term plan is to have Genie lead into a live-action Aladdin.
