Agent Carter Series Finale?!

For those who have not watched last night season/series finale of Marvel’s Agent Carter:Hollywood Ending episode be warned major spoiler ahead.

Much of the speculation comes from the news of the series star Hayley Atwell who signed on a new series  Conviction with ABC a few weeks ago. Combining with a so so rating for Agent Carter this season does not bode well with the future of the series. If there’s any optimism to draw from is from the interview quotes from the star herself :

“ABC has assured me that it would be actually possible,

if both shows get picked up, for me to do both.

So by saying yes to the pilot of Conviction does not automatically say

that that’s it for Peggy and Jarvis at all. It just means that they had a show

that they liked me to do and there is a possibility to do both at some point.”

Unlike The X-File series ending with a huge cliff hanger, Agent Carter last scene had Agent Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) shot by an unknown assailant, presumably dead. The secret redacted files on Agent Peggy Carter were taken.

Agent Jack Thompson is dead!
Agent Jack Thompson is dead!

For that Hayley Atwell has this to say:

“There’s a balance with how it ends. There’s enough of a cliffhanger to suggest

that that’s where we’ll go forward if the show gets picked up again.

But things are nicely wrapped up in a way that I think the audience will find very satisfying.

The audience won’t feel frustrated. If anything, they’ll come away satisfied

but also curious as to what happens beyond, because thanks to all the Marvel films

she has appeared in, we know that Peggy’s life goes on and she lives quite an

extraordinary life and a long life. So there’s always room to revisit her in different ways,

different decades and different ages.”
So what do you think? Did the series ending satisfy you? Do you wish there’s another season for Agent Carter? If not I can always have this ending scene appropriately titled episode Hollywood Ending.
