There’s a new Spider-Man movie on the horizon. Finally, this is the hero we deserve.
There were several highpoints in the Captain America: Civil War movie. One of those highpoints was the arrival of Spider-Man to the Marvel Studios universe. Finally, after so many versions, we finally had a Spider-Man that seemed worthy of taking the mantel.
Portrayed by Tom Holland, we finally see a young Spider-Man that looks, sounds, and acts like how the young Peter Parker should look, sound, and act.
While past movies had an emo hero, and witty repertoire which sound forced, or made the hero seem like a lackluster stand up comedian, Holland’s character’s humor was fitting of a hero that was in wonderment of the heroes which surrounded him.
In short, this WAS Spider-Man.
And now he has his own movie. And I’m hoping the portrayal of Spider-Man we saw in Civil War carries through to this Homecoming. Watching the trailer, it seems like it will.
We see a young awkward Spider-Man looking for his place, a sarcastic father figure in Tony Stark, the best Batman playing a Vulture, and the onscreen return of Jon Favreau presumably returning to the role he played in Iron Man.
Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, Zendaya, and (she still looks like that???) Marissa Tomei.
