New Star Trek TV Series To Be Available On CBS All Access

A new Star Trek TV series is in development and will start shooting on September in Toronto, Canada. The series is created by Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, Pushing Daisy). No detail of the title or the cast has been reveal. It is rumored the new series set between the original Star Trek and The Next Generation. No stranger to Star Trek series, Bryan Fuller had written for Deep Space Nine and Voyager before. The logistic is no accident since  Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal series was shot in Toronto and a brand new HBO series American Gods which he executive produce will also start shooting around the same time in Toronto. The Star Trek series is expected to arrive on a subscription base CBS All Access sometime in January 2017. CBS All Access is like Netflix with one distinction. Netflix released the entire season that allow its subscribers to binge watch and re watch at their leisure. With the new Star Trek series, CBS All Access is following the traditional path of broadcasting by releasing episode on a week by week basis. This will be a test to see CBS All Access could attract subscribers with such control schedule. CBS have the confidence the large fan base behind the Star Trek franchise will pave the way for more subscription base series that follow the same path. I am glad there are more subscription base services are coming on board. If we look at Netflix Marvel’s base television series, they have the ability to produce more shows than Netflix could broadcast. With more subscription services, perhaps we get to indulge more shows from different service providers within a season and not going on a rotating schedule control by one network. Are you a Star Trek fans? Will the week by week release of the series deter you from subscribing?
