Mickey Rourke, who portrayed the villain Whiplash in Iron Man 2, appeared last night on Late Night with Seth Meyers where he complained about the studio Marvel. According to him, significant part of his performance was cut out of the film.
When Myers pointed out that he had heard Rourke wasn’t a comic book fan and that his last movie Sin City: A Dame To Kill is based on a comic, Rourke corrected, “I’m not a MARVEL fan.” Things got interesting when Mickey proceeded to mention ” I’m a Robert Rodiguez/Frank Miller fan,” and added, “once I did a movie for Marvel and they cut the whole [bleep] thing out.”
Rourke also went on to say, “When you work with Robert, he knows what he wants, so you’re not doing a whole bunch…. I do a lot of research and work on the character a lot. So when you bring it out to the table, it’s disappointing when they cut stuff out.”
