No one is quite sure what will happen to the characters veteran voice actor Harry Shearer brought to life. But after some contract disputes, Shearer is not returning to The Simpsons because he wishes to pursue other projects. This news comes a week after the announcement was made that the decades-long sitcom has been greenlit by Fox for its 27th and 28th seasons.

Like most of the veteran cast, Shearer voiced several characters including: Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner, Reverend Lovejoy, and Kent Brockman. These voices have become iconic parts of The Simpsons, and fans are left to wonder at their fate on the show.

      It’s certainly a surprising turn. To be so invested in a show, and then just be done with it….
