“Hamilton” Genius Takes on a Disney Princess

Just had to let that out. I’m okay now. News hit today that Lin-Manuel Miranda, the brain behind the Broadway smash “Hamilton” is slated to work along side Alan Menken on the upcoming live action feature of The Little Mermaid.

Let me break down all the reasons this is amaze-balls.

  1. The Little Mermaid is the best Disney princess ever. I may be biased, cause I’m a redhead, but IDGAF. She rocks.
  2. Lin-Manuel Miranda is a musical phenom. His Broadway show won 11 Tony’s and killed records. And it’s a hip hop Broadway show about a president. I mean, for reals.
  3. Alan Menken did the original score for The Little Mermaid. So, there’s some serious O.G. power in the mix.

This film is not Miranda’s first Disney collab. He composed for the new film Moana starting Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and he is starring along side Meryl Streep in a new Mary Poppins reboot. The Little Mermaid live action film is the next in a series following Maleficent, Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast.
