The Fate of the Furious had a new trailer drop today during the big game. In this trailer, we see more cars, more explosions, more of Vin Diesel playing the role of Dominic Toretto. More of Dwayne Johnson’s grin. And hey, even Jason Statham.
For fans of the franchise, this looks to be more of what makes people fans of the franchise. For the casual observer, like myself, I just wonder why?
I get the idea of car races. I get the idea of action and explosions. Heck, I like all those things. But what I don’t understand is the same thing I don’t understand about the latest xXx call-double-xxx-xander-cage/ movie, also starring Vin Diesel. Why turn them in to cartoons?
I mean, look at the action sequences we’re seeing in the preview. There is absolutely nothing believable about these scenes. Yes, I understand larger than life, but isn’t this just taking that a bit too far? No, it’s taking it way too far.
