The Wrap is announcing that:
Warner Bros. has decided to release “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” in 3D on March 25, 2016, avoiding a high-profile showdown with “Captain America 3” on May 6, 2016.
“Batman v Superman” is viewed as the cornerstone of Warner’s DC Comics Universe and the studio couldn’t afford to leave anything to chance with its release date. It was inevitable that one studio would blink, as it never made sense for Hollywood to open two blockbuster superhero movies against each other.
This is good news for DC fans because of two things: 1) we will receive the movie a bit over a month earlier. 2) there will be no conflicting release with Marvel’s Captain America 3.
Though, I think we can all agree that a Batman and Superman team up would beat out a solo Marvel film (due to the caliber of the characters and the fact that it’s a historic movie), a same release dates for both movies would’ve had a significant effect on the box office of both films. However, Dc would loose more as Marve’s cinematic universe is more established than it’s competitor. All taken into consideration this is great news for both Disney and Warner Bro’s.
