Arrow’s Stephen Amell to Compete on American Ninja Warrior

In a clash of fandoms, Arrow’s Stephen Amell will appear and compete on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior later this Spring.

Amell has made a name for himself on the CW hit that modernizes the Green Arrow lore from DC Comics. He gained even more notoriety in that role as it was publicized that he worked to be able to complete a lot of the training and conditioning activities seen in the show, like the salmon ladder which requires the athlete to swing on a bar and lift it up about a foot to the next slot.

The Salmon Ladder is a key component to American Ninja Warrior’s obstacle course gauntlet.

Earlier today, Amell made the announcement on Twitter that he would be competing on this hit show that promotes fitness, health, and perseverance.

His coach, Kacy Catanzaro, is an ANW favorite. She is the first woman on the show to qualify for the finals, and the first woman to complete a City Finals course.

Amell is participating in a “celebrity edition” that also features Dancing with the Stars alum Derek Hough and Parenthood‘s Erika Christensen. The special is scheduled for May 25, just one day after Arrow‘s Season 5 finale is set to air.
