Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has passed away at the age of 55. In a statement from the Nintendo Company, the cause of death was due to a bile duct growth.
Iwata joined Nintendo in the 80’s, and worked on games like EarthBound. While at the helm of the company, Iwata oversaw launches of the GameCube, DS, Wii & Wii U systems. In June o 200, he was appointed Director. In May of 2002, he was appointed President and Representative Director. In June of 2013, he was appointed as CEO of Nintendo of America.
