While the limited edition stamps featuring Batman are selling remarkably well, traditional stamp collectors are not liking the idea at all. In fact, Postmaster General Benjamin Bailar was so displeased he resigned from his post but not before saying, “They have really ruined the stamp program. They have prostituted it in an effort to make money.”
The Batman stamp series was released in an effort to attract younger audiences to the art of stamp collecting. “You’ve got people who are fans of an icon that collect Batman memorabilia,” USPS spokesman Mark Saunders told Businessweek. “It’s a great opportunity to reach out to younger audiences, more people, to make stamps more relevant to everyone.”
What are your thoughts, is Batman really ruining the world of stamp collecting?
